The Simpsons take a cruise!
America's favorite family, the Simpsons, decided to take a cruise this week. Which line did they go with though? Springfield may be easier to find.

The answer is actually nearly everyone but really it's Royalty Cruises latest ship the Royalty Valhalla.

Featuring 9 decks numbered from top to bottom (like every other ship we've ver been on, right?) and a shape from the past with no balconies.

Titanic sets sail again
As the world gets ready to remember the great loss of life that occurred on that fateful April evening 100 years ago the media is fueling up their money makers. The British iTV network has already premiered their mini series and on April 14th the American ABC network will premiere it's own Titanic mini series. In addition to the sudden interest in creating Titanic themed mini series all of the usual documentary networks such as PBS, National Geographic, and Discovery are churning out several new specials to air around the anniversary.

Probably the biggest Titanic based event of all though is the rerelease of the 1997 blockbuster hit, Titanic, in 3D and IMAX 3D. When released in 1997 the cruise industry was still at it's infancy compared to today's floating luxury resorts. In 1997 nobody ever imagined a mall at sea would be expected and that anything less that 100,000 GRT was small. After Titanic made waves in theaters though left in it's wake was a new audience suddenly intrigued by life at sea. Now 15 years later the world is a different place. The cruise industry is seeing a slight decline after a series of unfortunate accidents this year and who knows what Titanic may add to that. Will we see another surge of interest or will it pile onto the recent fears that people have gained about the industry. Only time will tell.

SS United States vs Queen Elizabeth 2
For years the SS United States was considered the pride of the US shipping industry. Her reputation didn't help her in the end of her life though as she was purchased by the short lived NCL America Line only to be laid up in Philadelphia before ever getting to reenter service. In recent years their has been a mass search for cities willing to adopt her for as a permanent hotel, casino, and convention center. One of the leaders has been Atlantic City.

Today news has started to break that the Queen Elizabeth 2, who has carried her own historic reputation as a British liner, is once again looking to move. Expected to have a nice retirement the ship was sold to a Dubai organization to become a permanent casino and hotel but the economic downturn resulted in a halt to all construction and resulted in the once luxury liner sitting at the dock to rust away in the desert sun. It seems now that she will once again be sold off to another organization with the same plan and a hope of a different outcome that may also include Atlantic City.

Who knew their was a market for retired ocean liners, but apparently it's a buyers market as their are now two pieces of the historic ocean faring past up for sale to the city willing to pay the highest fee. Unfortunately this will most likely end up with both going back to their docks for a few more years and eventually probably only one will come out on top with the other heading to the breakers. Most likely it will be ...

Costa Concordia Reaches Another Milestone
The Costa Concordia reached another milestone in the recovery process yesterday. The salvage team successfully finished pumping all of the ships fuel tanks without any major incident. This means that the danger of a catastrophic environmental disaster is no longer present and the next step is to clear up all the near by debris on the sea floor and then begin dismantling the vessel. It has yet to be announced if the dismantling will happen on location or following a lengthy refloating process.

During the finishing of the fuel pumping divers under the ship located the bodies of five more victims trapped between the ship and the sea floor. This leaves only two more victims unaccounted for.

myCruiseView Beta!
Thank you for joining the myCruiseView Beta! During this test period all information posted to the site is for beta testing purposes only. Please use it as you would normally and feel free to post miscellaneous other items to try and push the site's limits. This is the period where we want to discover any issues and correct them before going live for real use. If you find an issue please post it as a comment on this post below or submit it as a private comment from the "Site" menu above.

The most recent updates to the sites code have involved the introduction of the BBCode comment system so if you have any issues, comments, or concerns related to that please share them so that we can try and improve things.

Their has also been an improvement to the posting system for blog entries. You will find this in the new addition of a "+" icon on blog and wake pages. This is in the same location as the edit and flag button on other pages. I am looking for some input on how intuitive it is and any improvements it could receive.

It takes time to convert the graphical deck plans of a ship into a cabin listing for the database so cabins will continuously be added to the site forever. Along with that new ships and lines will be added as the public deems necessary.

The entire site was built from the ground up for the purpose of catering to the cruise community and in the future their are a lot more features that I already have plans of ro...
